Historic Herring Hotel Renovation for the Hopeless

Every time I drive by this incredible structure, standing alone and desolate amidst clouds of insecurity, I see this sign:

“I AM NOT A HAS BEEN, I AM A WILL BE”

I look around and see the desperate faces of the homeless, who wander the streets of our city looking for anything that might relieve their desperation and I think, “These are the true ‘will be’s’ of our modern society."  

 They are so desperate to find more than just a band-aid for their problems.

 

For more than ten years now, I have been wondering:

 “What would it be like if these people were offered a real chance at recovery?  What would be the best solution for this hope to become a reality?”  

 And the Lord answered, ” Give them a place to live where they can regain their dignity.”  (Isaiah 58:7, Psalms 10:17)

And so, this idea was born.

Now let us give them “Beauty for Ashes.” (Isaiah 61:3)

This magnificent structure features 14 stories and 600 rooms which could be converted into a residential recovery center featuring individual apartments which could be utilized to give these desperate human beings a foothold on life.

They could be counseled and helped to see the truth of the Lord’s unending grace.

And not only for the homeless but also for the desperate refugees fleeing the oppression and violence in their own countries to find a new life, a new freedom based on love.

I am praying daily for help and wisdom. I will need a very strong administrative team and many professionals to complete this project.

 

This is not an easy undertaking and one that will require the help and expertise of many caring individuals who know the true character of God and a great deal of money.

 

This building was built in the early 1920’s by a Texas oil baron named Cornelius Taylor Herring at the cost of $1 million, the appraisal value is now around $287,578, such a sad testimony to the lack of care placed upon this structure.  This was a place for the then booming business of oil in Texas to meet and relax, to discuss their booming industry and create hope for the future.  Structural integrity has been maintained and the interior needs remodeling.  Acquisition of the property is the key to this project.  The local historical society has been said to help from there, as long as the building is restored mainly to its historical beauty, which would not interfere with the proposed purpose of use for which it is intended. 

The amenities of this great hotel included a wonderful dining room called the ‘Old Tascosa Room’, which featured incredible wall murals by a country artist named H. D. Bugbee whose work has been mostly destroyed by flooding.  But once restored this incredible show place can be utilized to feed the homeless and provide unique dining experiences by contracting the help of local food industries willing to showcase their menus to the public while providing  charitable meals for the residents.

This building is located near major event complexes, libraries, bus stops and other local charities making it a showcase for Amarillo by the unique character of its  structure and the unique opportunities being provided for the public to get a closer understanding of what it is really like to be homeless , helping to dispel the fear. While giving these seemingly hopeless and forgotten individuals the special opportunity to be able to 'get back up on their feet' and reintegrate themselves into society with a new hope and a firm foundation.

I have great hopes for this project, but it will not be easy.  As I stated before, it will take a major effort, lots of money and most important:  The Grace of God and His blessing. 

With God standing for us, who can stand against us?

I will need the help of many, not only monetarily, but in many advisory, management, construction, organizational and planning capacities.  This will include the prospect of hiring and the emplacement of a dedicated staff to help administer and maintain all aspects of the ongoing organization.

Letter to the White House during the Obama Administration: Why ask for comments when comment box is too short to address an issue @whitehouse.gov?

(Note: This was written before I understood the true colors of Mr. Obama and His Anti-Christian, Anti-American viewpoints. I voted for Donald Trump and prayed during the whole election broadcast, and we won. All Praise be to GOD and HIS Holy Name.)

Dear Mr. President:

I have addressed my comment to this Administration as I am not quite sure my area of concern would not in some way involve several governmental agencies and departments.

I have had few issues with your administration Mr. Obama, other than the one dealing with the supply of 'morning after' pills as a federally mandated health concern to be administered by those corporations holding firmly to the belief that life, as I do, begins at conception.

I do also admit, that I personally  and publicly issued a rather harsh statement concerning Hobby Lobby's predicament.

I personally feel, that no one corporation or individual should be forced to supply "irresponsible" children (or adults) with a "convenient" method of eradicating the aftermath of their own or forcibly caused pregnancy caused by said irresponsible and hateful sexual congress nor recreational fornication.

Having said that, I will now, address at partially my real concern.

I believe, most probably could and does affect not only our "great" Nations economy, but also the economy of the entire planet and every nation upon it, to such an incredibly massive degree.

And as it is my belief,  that a "show " of force on a very large scale is quite more effective and longer lasting than an actual display of that force which results in even more hatred and discontent from disgruntled participants, because of the large scale devastation to their own populations for possibly fighting for the same or nearly the same, political, religious, social or economic freedoms that we who live here in these United States, so seem to possess.  

And, one of the most notorious and costly of these failed 'wars', is the 'war on drugs which at this time, praise be to GOD, on whose HOLY name this country was founded, cannot notably be accounted to your current position of occupancy in The White House's Oval Office.

My only regret, Mr. President, is that this missive comes at so late a date in your term of office.

Because, as I have always supported and believed in the most evident and innate ability of your evident gifts in the area of rhetoric, given more time, I believe that you and your most august administration could have possibly uncovered or revealed a more economical political solution. 

A solution which could in fact allow the alleviation of this most horrible of all problems now facing the world today.

I also believe that your administration could have achieved a more workable and permanent possible working solution to this ongoing drain on the American and other targeted economies, who by infiltration by large TOC and terrorist organizations and their supporters control and so subject the entire world's peoples to the most horrible of atrocities.

If you would carefully study the history concerning the stoppage of any type of usage "concerning 'mind altering' chemicals", I am sure you will discover the futility and waste of hard-earned public and private governmental tax contributions monies which are wasted on the process of eliminating such abuses as the imbibement of those "illegally" obtained chemicals. 

Mostly used and obtained  by those among us who are so psychologically distressed, dispossessed  and/or physically and emotionally abused by such individuals as these "narco" terroristic individuals can be.

We must try to end this world's suffering.

We must not continue to offer the type of repressive climates which allow such openly criminal organizations to profit from our misfortunes. 

We can only hope to help "put an end" to the complex sufferings of all individuals upon this planet. 

Can you not allow yourself to try to understand the even greater sufferings imposed on these distressed individuals (of which I truthfully have at times cannot say I have not been) by incarceration, ostracism and other subtle and not so subtle harmful and coercive treatment, heaped upon them not only by their own friends and families but also by our public law administrations?

This suffering, which has been even more greatly increased by the purposeful introduction of hazardous and deadly substances into an otherwise pure and homogeneous plant growing naturally upon our planet, in order to accomplish the complete devastation of these wasted lives and monies? 

Which these inevitably proven ineffective and unwinnable contests of war entail? 

Why can we not first take control of those substances being introduced inside of our own borders, by "federally mandating" a drug purity act which would entail not only medicinally prescribed chemical substances , but also those now deemed illegal?

If all known users were required by federal law to register and purchase their drugs from FDA controlled distribution centers, while also banding together in a diplomatic agreement with all other nations which suffer from this same economic and physical loss which street drugs cause as being a means of bio chemical warfare against all of this worlds citizens. 

Could we not in this way make a clear and permanent effort ourselves to purchase the unadulterated and natural product from those countries such as Columbia and Afghanistan which produces these substances so apparently abundantly,  in order that we may ensure the eyes of the world are watching how these very same countries an illegal cartels continue using that money?

Investing instead the drug users own monies to procure effective treatment and recovery options?

Then if no movement toward economically humanitarian efforts are not forthcoming among the nations involved in production.

Then can we not try to establish a worldwide embargo on those nations continuing to use their profits to help instill and promote terrorism and TOC activities within their own borders and across the planet? 

For by knowing and investing in that enemy, in order to maintain accountability of those involved in illegal and adamantly harmful crimial activities, would we then not be in a position by which we could better impose conditions of the manufacture and distribution, therefore ensuring against the outflow of economic gain to those who most certainly mean us and all other "good" peoples harm? 

And by requiring the registration of the now inhumanly criminalized abused users across the world, can we not then knowingly offer to them lower levels of employment by which we know of their addiction, and can therefore monitor any deviant behavior or psychosis which may develop in anyone taking any drug, be it legal or not? 

Does this not in some way speak out towards a more humanitarian interest of the world's suffering than the constant killing and bloodshed wrought not only in our own streets but in the streets of every God-fearing nation? 

Whether He be our own Christian God or the God of any goodly, nonviolent peace seeking individual.  Although I myself must profess my belief in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son and the saviour of our devastated planet.

It is in this way that I believe we can make an inroads of success, not only to those such as myself who have been consistently in the past, poisoned by not only these criminally insane perpetrators of violence through terrorism and blood shed, but also from our own governmental agencies? And not only from this no win 'War on Drugs' but also to the combatting of the human trafficking problem which exists so prominently across the world, in so many nations. 

And as such also try to rescue those helpless, men, women and children sold every day into sexually deviant and abusive conditions? 

Should we allow such as what exists on the streets in places like India, or Afghanistan: Children barely five or six years old to be  dressed up and sold as prostitutes to those who repeatedly rape, mutilate, brutalize and kill them?  Or continue to turn a blind eye while they are horribly mutilated and disabled and forced to beg for their abusers?

I ask you, Mr. President, is this 'godly' by anyone's standards but those of Satan himself the perpetrator of all lies and misfortune?

How is it we who claim to know the "Living GOD" by whatever name we call Him, though truly there is only one True Name. Can we continue to turn our backs on those who are given or sold to be beaten and so inhumanly raped and thrown way like garbage?

If I could ask of God only one blessing,  it would be to add my lower viewpoint and perspective to any government think tank which could help solve this dilemma which the devil himself could have created.

And I mean no disrespect to anyone's honor.

 Sometimes there is just nothing we can do when we are dealt such a nasty blow by those who follow satan's rules. 

But with all due respect to the Office of this United States Presidency, I salute you, Mr. Obama for being such a stout and worthy participant of that sanctioned office.
